What is wellbeing and why is it important?

Wellbeing is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as “the state of being comfortable, healthy, or happy.”

Here at Greater Moments we recognise how important it is for people living with dementia and their carers to really make the most of the moments that matter, which Is why we ask our users to add a wellbeing score and record moments, this allows users reflecting on the “Greater Moments” they may have experienced in their day to day lives.

Wellbeing is important as it can vastly improve a person and the way they live their day to day life.

3 ways to improve your wellbeing:

– Learn a new skill
Learning new skills keeps the mind engaged and the body active. Arts 4 Dementia believe that people living with dementia and their carers have the right to enjoy life to the full. Participating in arts activity, rekindling and learning new artistic skills enables them to bypass dementia symptoms and enjoy new creative experiences together.
Why not rate Arts 4 Dementia on the Greater Moments app? You can do this by finding the service in “nearby services” and clicking the “rate this service” button.

– Go out in nature
Being out in nature can lower stress levels and calm the mind, allowing people to be mindful of their surroundings and encourage a sense of gratitude.

– Connect with new people
At Greater Moments, there are many different services and events on the Greater Moments app that encourage users to join new communities and groups.
Greater Moments also has “Champions” a group of people who are passionate about capturing the experiences of individuals living with Dementia in Greater Manchester,
